The Origin of Project Greaves

Posted onCategoriesDev JournalTags

Not too long ago, I used the Soulcaster III engine to clone Gauntlet 1985. As a sign of how¬†slightly overwrought the engine was, I was able to import the sprite sheet and get it up and running within six days. The hardest part was getting the creatures to tend towards the “grooves” that keep them aligned to tiles, which helps with aiming, uncrowding, and navigation of small corridors.

I couldn’t help but import the lighting engine from Escape Goat 2.
